vegan plate

Confession time… 😞

I used to eat a lot of animals. And I mean a lot!

Just 5 years ago, I was regularly eating pounds of chicken, turkey, and fish all in the name of gains.

As an aspiring bodybuilder, I knew that I needed to eat a boatload of protein everyday in order to build the type of muscle mass I wanted. 💪

It wasn’t until my girlfriend decided to eat a vegetarian diet that I reconsidered my life as a carnivore.

I was never big on veggies, dismissing them as unnecessary filler for my needs as a meathead. But the more vegetarian meals I saw and smelled, the more I became curious.

To my surprise, vegetarian food could taste just as good as what I had been eating!

So I challenged myself to become vegetarian.

In shedding my attachment to eating meat, I quickly became dependent on eggs, yogurt, cow milk, and whey powder to get my protein.

And then my girlfriend took things one step further…

She decided she was going vegan. 🥦

And I had just gotten used to eating vegetarian! Feeling optimistic and adventurous, I joined her.

But, eating vegan means consuming NO animal-based products.

How was I going to survive without eggs? Yogurt? CHEESE?!

I discovered just how many protein-packed plant-based foods there are. Lentils, chickpeas, and other legumes could provide more protein than I ever needed.

Fast forward to today, and I LOVE my vegan diet!

Like any dietary change, it took some work…but I’ve lived to tell the tale!

I share my journey to give you insight into what it takes to transition from carnivore to herbivore, and perhaps inspire you to think differently about what you eat.
